GPO Telephone 776 Phone Restoration & Conversion

In this video we look at the GPO 776 telephone, introduced in the early 1970s as a premium alternative to the better known 746. In 1977 these phones were re-launched as the Jubilee Telephone in commemoration of the Queen's silver jubilee and in a special royal purple colour. However after the event 776 production returned to a more standard range of colours, being available in mid-brown, blue and silver grey.

Here we look at how to convert the 776 for use on the modern British network and see how to fit a plug & socket type line cord.
