Final Cut Pro X gets a lot of shit for its colour grading tool which, I admit, is pretty pathetic by itself. The Color Finale plugin can help a lot, but it it isn't absolutely indispensible. I just discovered that if you just shoot flat, use a bunch of LUTs, and tinker with the usually useless Final Cut Pro X colour grading tools a little, you can get almost any kinda shot you want.

The footage was captured on a Nikon D5300 (with the “Cineflat” picture control) through a basic 18-55mm kit lens at 1920x1080p/24 fps.
